The Culture Lab partnered with Kean University to honor the 35th anniversary of “A Different World” blending nostalgia with a powerful exploration of its cultural legacy and relevance to modern social issues.
Approach
We curated a sold-out panel featuring cast members Darryl M. Bell, Kadeem Hardison, Jasmine Guy, and Cree Summer. Through clips, discussions, and a Q&A session, the event connected the show’s themes—race, activism, and identity—to challenges faced by today’s students and HBCU culture.
Results
The event captivated a full-house audience, sparking critical conversations and earning praise for its impact and cultural significance. It highlighted A Different World’s enduring influence as both a cultural touchstone and a catalyst for dialogue on social change.
